Retirement...ahhhh, what a relief it is!

First day without any keys to the school and my (former) office was weird.  For over 20 years, I have had access to the school in which I was working any time of the day or night.  I have to say, it really takes a burden off...I thought I would be traumatized, but no!  Cool.  It was weird today in other ways, too...I have so much to do that I kept thinking I have to rush, but I don't!  No deadlines.  Of course, no routines, either...could get really lazy that way...will have to be careful! Hmmm.
Worked outside from about 7am til 9, but my new weedeater kept messing up, so I gave it up and came inside to do some work, got distracted by Facebook and Scrabble, so didn't get much done.  Decided to go visit Mama, but she was in residents' meeting and I didn't want to disrupt her day, so went to Kroger, bought some food for a celebratory supper for Bear (his last day at school).  Fixed cowboy steak, scalloped potatoes, green beans, yeast rolls, and a chocolate cake.  He was surprised!  Finished weedeating with the old weedeater and now ready to watch some tv, knit, and read before bedtime.  I think I can get used to this!

And Spring Break begins!  Actually, a very slow day.  I was so worn out after the weekend all I have wanted to do is sleep...definitely not spring cleaning, which was my plan.  Also, tried to start a diet...what a joke.  I just cannot do it.  I love to cook, I love to eat...maybe exercise is the key!  What the heck?  It has to be better than not eating!!!!!  Worth a try.
Here's some Easter pictures of the kids with their Easter eggs...

Rainy, rainy chilly day.  That's okay, as long as it is above freezing and not snowing or icing!!!  When I fed Andy this morning, I told him to stay in his room and read today...wonder what he would read, if he could read...I think probably comedies...surely not books where the dog dies in the end!  I don't like those either.

First Day of Spring! Yay....20 March 2010

First day of spring....and my allergies have kicked in big time...sneezy, sleepy, dopey, runny, etc.  But it IS spring and the sun is shining and the birds are singing...ahhhhchooo.
Pretty quiet day here, a trip to Kroger was the only reason I changed out of my pjs...oh, and the pretty weather has brought out the campaigners in the area...couldn't (oh, darn) answer the door because I had on pjs....that's my story and  I am sticking to it.
March Madness and my brackets are all upset, but I really don't care because I like it when the underdogs win, which is pretty much what is happening!

It sure is easy to forget to post on a blog when you are in school everyday and not having snow days!!! I  got a dose of what retirement is going to be like and I liked it.
Anyway, finally few minutes to write a few lines...
Saturday morning I stayed with Ben and Baker from 9am til about 2, then they came over here for a while and did some paint by number pictures (I'll insert a photo) and played with the cats, then Ben and I went to see "The Lightning Thief," based on a book we had both read...it was too scary for Baker, so she went shopping with her mom and dad.  The movie was really really good. Ben spent the night and we have all just vegetated all day, reading, watching UK play ball, etc.  Nice weekend.

Hey girlfriend. Finally got onto this blog. Love the pics of you and your mom. I will use this regularly to see how things are going. This is cool. I am proud of you for setting this up. I wouldn't have a clue how to do it. You will have to teach me how to send pics.

Busy weekend.  Yesterday I went to watch Ben swim in a meet in Owensboro.  His times were good, but not good enough to qualify for state, which he really wanted.  You know, I thought after Martie and Jennie were grown, I was through with the pain and anguish that can go with childhood sports, but in a way it is even worse with the grands.  I wanted this for Ben so bad...and seeing Jennie and Brent hurting for him makes the hurt double!!!!  And, yes, I know...it is not that important, but you want your kids and grandkids to have what they want...But...Ben has just started being serious about swimming this year and he IS only ten years old.  He will be fine...as a matter of fact, he forgets it a long time before the rest of us do!   LOL.
Anyway, today Baker was still sick, so I stayed with her while Jen and Brent both went with Ben...he still didn't qualify, but Jen said he came so very close.  At least, that is one weekend they can stay home...and not have to run to a swim meet.  :)
